Portable Power Stations

A portable power station is a battery with outlets. It keeps a fridge, a CPAP machine, a router or a laptop running through an outage without the fumes or the noise of a generator.

Two numbers decide which one fits. Capacity, in watt-hours, is how long it runs: divide it by the watts your devices draw for a rough number of hours, and expect a little less in practice because the inverter uses some of it. Output, in watts, is what it can run at once, and anything with a motor or a compressor needs headroom for its start-up surge.

Each comparison below puts every model in one family side by side on those numbers and on price, then says which to buy for which job.
